Langlois Public Library QUILT RAFFLE-

Our quilt raffle will support completion of our demonstration pollinator garden ( seeds, plants, etc) The drawing will be either at the last Pollinator Garden by Darcy Grahek of Stillwater Natives Nursery. This class will be the third that Darcy has done for the library and our plot will be ready.  If weather precludes the drawing in Feb., will be scheduled for the summer  solstice.  Please drop by our library ,opening again on Dec 28th.

How to Install a Mini-Pollinatro Garden

Mark your calendars for August 12!! Langlois Public Library is pleased to announce a collaboration with Darcy Grahek, Stillwater Natives Nursery, Bandon on HOW TO INSTALL A MINI-POLLINATOR GARDEN,

A three session workshop, August 12, August 26, and September 23 from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. Location: Langlois Public Library Patio.

This workshop will walk participants through every step to establish a drought tolerant garden that includes native flowering plants. Cardboard and mulch as an alternative to tilling is discussed in depth. In Session 1, participants choose a site at home and create a plan addressing sun, soil, and water. The Pollinator Garden site design is 80-100 square feet in any shape. Workshop participants will gain practical experience in a hands-on outdoor activity at the end of class. Workshop members will draft a diagram or map to use at home during the first session. Session II, August 26, 5:30 – 7:00. This session presents the garden plants that flower with an emphasis on native plants. The Langlois Library’s garden pollinator map will serve as a model. Participants will be supported in choosing site appropriate plant materials. Session III, September 23, 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. The final session brings together all elements for making a small pollinator- supporting garden. Timing the planting to the right season and choosing appropriate plants for the prepared site AND PLANTING the Langlois Library pollinator garden are all included in the final session. Participants will be included in a special celebration at that time! The sessions are free, but any donations are gratefully accepted.
