3rd Anual Get Rocking Rock Festival at the Lions club April 19th

 

YOU are truly a gem

The Langlois Lions Club is again hosting an event: "Get Rockin in Langlois", a small town fair for rock aficionados and beach lovers on Saturday, April 19th- 9 am-5 pm. at the Lions Club, 48136 Floras Lake Loop. This is our third , now annual event, and if the previous two give us any indication, the fair is going to be wonderful again.

Admission is free with donations appreciated and/or to buy raffle tickets. This year, two different raffle baskets with similar contents will be featured. These raffles are made possible by donations from local businesses and artisans, and the on-site vendors. Alll children get a selection of a polished agate to take home and enjoy.

The main features: Speakers: Geoff Ogle and Matt Vegar: "Tutorial on Rock Identification" 9 am -10 am. Kent Gibson, renown fossil expert- national Katherine Palmer Award for avocational paleontology: " My Fossil Journey." 10:30 am. -11: 30 am. Cody Easom: " How to Make the Best of Rock Tumbling", 1:30 am -2:30pm.

The fossil/rock experts will be on hand all day long. The fourth expert, K Thomas Myers, author of the pocket guide "Agates of the Oregon Coast," will bring a display of samples for visitors to view and touch. . You are invited to bring in your mystery rocks and fossils ( limit of 3 )and see if the experts can be stumped or not. More features: great selection of vendors with beach-themed products such as art, jewelry, and plants. Other Demonstrations Bob Vernal: zen rock stacking which opportunity to practice outside to make small arches, Heidi Foss, also expert rock stacking and fish printing for children ( and adults if room available) , and Calvin Davis: Cabochon cutting There is also . ID rock game and an opportunity to buy durable stickers featuring the Oregon Coast and more. .


A special lunch unique to our event: a red lentil soup-Mercimek Çorbasi -a Turkish favorite, with pita & hummus, & small salad for suggested donation of $6.00. Rave reviews past two years.

The event also provides the opportunity for people to meet and greet other like-minded people, maybe, even a bit of show and tell. Chili Feed on 22nd and Memorial for Jean Stevenson on the 29th at the Lions Club

Lions Club Chili Feed and Dessert Auction Saturday, March 22th 5 pm

 

The Langlois Lions Club is hosting a benefit Chili Feed and Dessert Auction Saturday, March 22th from 5 pm- 7-pm. Dessert auction @ 6pm sharp. The event is is located at the Lions Club: 48136 Floras Lake Loop. It is very easy to find, only a few blocks off Hwy 101 just south of Langlois. The dinner offering is a bowl of tasty chili, home -made corn bread and coleslaw. Vegetarian option available. Coffee, tea, water and punch is included. The suggested donation is $7/ per serving.

This event’s proceeds will go towards our Pacific High School scholarship and building upgrade funds. The auction is often the most fun part of the event with everyone leaving happy even if outbid for the desserts. You can also visit our beautiful ADA compliant bathrooms even if you don’t need to. The new kitchen counter tops are also just absolutely gorgeous. These two project and others were made possible by The Ford Family Foundation. In addition, selective works of local artists will be on display with most available for sale. 

The community members have been so supportive of our fund-raising events. It is very appreciated. We hope this neighborly tradition continues with donations of one's favorite dessert. If you can not attend, desserts may still be dropped off at the Lions Club, preferably around 5 pm. Pick-up of desserts can also be arranged.

Happy New Years everyone!!!

We here at Small n Dull are working to line up some good music this year at the Langlois Cheese Factory, starting with the Lowdown Brass Band on Sunday, February 2nd. Lowdown Brass Band is a one-of-a-kind horn ensemble that weaves the dancehall and street rhythms of Chicagoland into the conscious hip hop, reggae, and soul of lyrical frontmen MC Billa Camp and Shane Jonas. This is Lowdown’s fourth time playing the Cheese Factory, so they know Langlois demands a dance party, and they will deliver! IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild™ is an outdoor concert series where America’s most stunning landscapes replace the traditional concert hall. Guests explore the surrounding environment while listening to the music through wireless headphones, creating an immersive experience that fosters a connection with the music, nature, and with one another. About this location

This evening concert will take place at Valley Flora Farm in Langlois, Oregon. An organic farm and “mother-and-two-daughter collective” nestled on the banks of Floras Creek, Valley Flora Farm grows hundreds of varieties of vegetables, berries, and fruit with the help of draft horses, a handful of fantastic employees, one little tractor, and 12 kilowatts of solar power. The piano will be situated in the middle of the farm, north of the horse corral. Concert check-in opens at 4:00 pm, and the performance begins at 5:00 pm. Please arrive early enough to park and walk to the site.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Bandon Dunes Charitable Foundation and Travel Southern Oregon Coast, a portion of ticket sales will benefit the Wild Rivers Land Trust, a non-profit organization working to protect watersheds, open space, and working ranches, farms, and forests for future generations.

This event takes place on the ancestral and occupied homeland of The Confederated Tribes of Siletz including the Tututni peoples.
Accessibility and other FAQs

Parking at this site is extremely limited and we encourage carpooling. Guests may have to park up to 1/2 mile from the site, depending on roadside parking availability so please plan ahead. There will be a drop-off area near the site for guests, chairs, and picnics. There will be a small # of reserved parking places for those with ADA placards. The site itself is on grassy uneven terrain. There will be no shuttle service provided. Garage Sale at Lions club aug 24 and update from Steve Montana

Grand Trifecta Garage Sale at the Lions Club, Aug 24th and 25th

 

 

The Langlois Lions Club is hosting a Grand Trifecta, August 24th and 25th, Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 4 pm, at the club house 48136 Floras Lake Loop, just south of Langlois on the right, off Hwy 101.

The Trifecta promises to be of interest whether or not one is a garage sale fanatic.

The three- for- one event:

1) Benefit Indoor sale: Mostly high quality items including furniture, household items, exercise bike and much more.

We also encourage people who would want to do a "trunk or tail gate sale" and the like to sign up for a space in our yard free of charge. Current vendors: Creations by the Sea (resin art), Surfin' Goats Jam, Ali's Wicky Wacky Creations (tie dye hand-made goods), Sonja's Treats (baked goods) and other garage sale vendors. We are also still interested in additional indoor vendors.

2) Mini Art exhibit: Rock bottom prices featuring paintings by Jean Stephenson, Georganne White, Michael Ousley and hand made fiber items by Yvonne Ousley.

3)Mini-Open House: tour of renovations of the bath rooms and kitchen/ info re our Lions Club/ cookies/ coffee/tea.
